The self portrait was really difficult for me. Drawing faces has always been a challenge for me, like trying to get the shape of the head to be proportional and the eyes the right length apart. It took a long time to come up with ideas for this project but it was lots of fun. I didn't draw hair since I thought that would look a little strange with the mechanical face. During this project I found out that you could do different things to a self portrait like this project; making it a zombie or mechanical self portrait. Even though I had seen these things on TV I never thought to draw them until we did this project.
The opacity project was difficult especially when using . Trying to get the bread to look the color of bread was challenging since it didn't have the right shadeS in the pack. Shading the different lights in the plastic bag was challenging since some light shades were darker than the others. This project was a challenge which made it fun and I liked how the bag actually showed up looking a little realistic with the bread is in the bag.
For the perspective project I drew permanent pens sticking out towards you. Since it was the easiest thing I could think of that I could actually draw like that. It was difficult since the light was coming from all directions. It doesn't look 3D but its hard for me to make a pen sticking towards you look like its coming at you.
In the project of drawing the eggs with pastel i learned to not blend as much as you would. Working with pastel was kinda hard as usual. when you would try to blend the egg next to another egg it would go into the other egg a little. When drawing the still life i learned more on how to blend in different shades of values without making it blend in with the shading above below or beside it.This was very challenging for me. Since there were so many tiny lights and darks. It was hard for me to make the wrapper look 3D. Getting all those crevices and dented parts to look 3D and shading them right.
This was drawn in white and black charcoal. It came out way better than I thought i would have done. At first it was hard getting the different shades of lights and darks, but then I got the hang of it.
