In this drawing I should have shaded it better/blended more officiently. This was the first time and drawing I did using white charcoal. It was very difficult since I'm used to shading the dark areas not the light areas.
It was kind of hard drawing this room drawing without a ruler making everything lopsided. The fact it was with a pen and you couldn't erase made it hard as well.
This drawing was a challenge since it had so much detail and little things on the instruments. Especially since you couldn't lift up your pencil. I shaded too hard on the last picture.
My favorite project was drawing the still life. I chose to draw a tigers eye. I liked this project because tigers are my favorite animal and I enjoy drawing them. I also found out I was good at drawing tiger eyes. This one is a copy of the real one so it has a blue part colored. The thing I liked about this class was we had many different projects that were very interesting. I think doing more different types of styles would have made me learn more of different ways of drawing art. I haven't noticed what has changed about what I think about art. What I notice about my art skills in my drawing from the beginning of the year to my drawing today is that I add more texture and more details now to make it look better. I also got the idea that i could make some differences about the second one.
This picture by M.C Escher inspired me because I always thought illusions were really cool. This type of illusion seemed hard with figuring out what shapes could be used to make other shapes fit into the extra space perfectly. It also brings lots of imagery with thinking of ideas which were creative I guess. This is in the order I drew them. They are numbers that fill in the space. I didn't know how to draw one like his but this is what I came up with which is close to what his is.
The sculpture that I did was was on a slab of clay. Then I drew a tiger eye and made it 3D by rolling hot dog style a piece of clay and putting it on top of the eye to make it pop out. I drew the black markings with a pointy thingy. Then voila, I made a tiger clay thingy mabob. jknjnjn Wedging is the first thing you do before you start sculpting. You drop it on the table and roll it around or whatever so you get all the hollow bubbles in the clay out/filled in. You use scoring when you want to connect two pieces of clay together. You make slashes (like shown in the picture) on both the pieces you want to connect then you get both of those slashes wet and press them together but not hard enough to ruin the piece you made. If you want to make something easy a pinch pot is very easy. First you would get a handful of clay. The next step is easy but may take awhile/few minutes, this part is wedging. You would take the clay and slam it onto the table and roll it into a ball or whatever to get the bubbles in the clay out/filled in so it wont blow up in the kiln. After you are certain your done with that part you would then roll it into a ball. If your clay starts to get hard to work with then get it a little damp but not too much or it will be hard to work with all wet. Take your thumb and press down in the center of the ball of clay to make a hole. Then pinch around the sides making the sides go upward. Make sure the bottom of this pot is flat. Make sure the outside is smooth. Then you would let it dry, and after that you would fire it. Then when thats done you can decorate it.
I think my thinking about problem solving has evolved during this unit. With one of the limitations i was doing I ran into a problem with the some of the frootloops mixing with one another so I had decided to combine them. At first when I started glueing the frootloops to the paper some of the chunks were a little big so I had to crunch them up even more. My other problem was the hearts were suppose to be different colors but it was hard to keep the other colors from falling into the other hearts when I shook off the extra frootloops. So I decided to just mix all the frootloops colors together. What I thought about the experience of working with a limitations was it gave me so many ideas. I had lots of fun coming up with many cool and fun ideas with so many to choose from. I think my work evolved during this final project by the fact more ideas were made with what my artwork should look like and it turned out pretty cool except the fact the tigers face looks a little mushed closer to the eyes. My limitation was to use only lines which i did and it turned out pretty good. One of my previous limitations was a drawing using my left and right hand. This is the right hand limitation This is the left hand limitation At the beginning of the unit Artists Steal i considered it as copying someone else's work. Now I have a better understanding that it's not copying if you make it different but get some good ideas from it. In my final drawing in this unit I got an idea from a optical illusion 3D looking hand. I then changed it around and made it my own with a few different ideas in it than the original.
With the hand drawing I got a better understanding of how you use the contour line drawing. Also how to show depth in a hand.
